Professor at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, Director of the Institute of Forestry and Engineering, and Vice Chair of the Supervisory Board of the State Forest Management Centre of Estonia. His main research interests include forest regeneration, forest disturbances (wildfires, windthrow, bark beetle outbreaks, and wildlife impacts), as well as the recovery and development of forest ecosystems following natural disturbances.
