“Kazakhstan Pre-Service English Teachers Programme”

Recently, on the 6th of June, 2023 English teachers of Sh.Ualikahnov University Aizhan Sharipova, Kyzzhibek Shulembayeva and Illiyas Mukhammedzhanov attended panel discussion, hosted by the British Council in Astana, the purpose of which was to determine a systematic approach to improving the quality of teaching English in educational institutions. The participants who were the representatives of pedagogical universities of Kazakhstan, the center for international programs, centers of excellence, experts from the British Council, as well as delegations from other interested organizations discussed the level of professional development of English teachers, the quality of teaching English in the country's schools, and ways of a systematic approach to improving the quality of teaching English language.

The event was moderated by Simon Borg, an education expert specializing in the development, implementation and evaluation of professional development programs for teachers, Angus Bjarnason, Executive Director of the British Council in Kazakhstan and Tatiana Slijepcevic, trainer and expert of the British Council.

As a result of the event, teachers discussed and negotiated the ways of including the Pre-Service English Teachers Program in the educational programs of pre-service English teachers at Ualikhanov University with the coordinators of the British Council and also established networking with the moderators of the British Council for further cooperation.

Moreover, the lecturer of the Department of General Linguistics and Literature at Ualikhanov University was officially invited as a speaker and presenter on behalf of the British Council to the international conference “Kaz TEA” at Shakarim Kudaiberdiev University in Semey. She presented her report on “Motivation in Online Learning”, also shared her experience and impressions about Kazakhstani Pre-Service English Teachers Programm project with the participants.

The teachers of the Department of “General Linguistics and Literature” Kyzzhibek Shulembaeva, Aizhan Sharipova and the teacher of the Department of “English Language and TM” Ilyas Mukhamedzhanov express their deep gratitude to the Ualikanov University for the contribution of the professional development of teachers.
